Sweet Treats in New York City

I’m taking a brief break from the kitchen for a few days while I attend The International Association of Culinary Professionals 2012 Conference in NYC. I know you might be thinking that the conference is just a ruse and that I would go to great lengths to find any reason to visit Jael, and you would be right. However, I would have attended this conference regardless of where it took place. The the icing on the cake is that this year the conference takes place in the Big Apple and that puts me within hugging distance of my Girl.

It is amazing to me how much I have fallen in love with New York over the past few years. No one could be more surprised than I am that NY has whittled its way into my soul. I actually have a sense of “belongingness” when I touch down at JFK. Traveling here as frequently as I have over the past four or five years provides me the legitimacy of referring to myself as bi-coastal. Okay, that might be a bit of an exaggeration but I have definitely connected with the city in ways I never would have imagined. When I walk around the lower end I actually know where I am – at least as much as anyone knows their way around the maze of streets that make up Manhattan.

After hugs and kisses from Jayz, the most enticing reason to visit NY is the city’s abundance of restaurants, cultures and cuisines. Discovering new bakeries is a mission of every trip, followed by chocolate shops and coffee shops. Yes, New York has amazing coffee. My one cup a day rule flies out the window when I am here.

So, I leave you with a few photos of some of my favorite NY indulgences. True confession – I ate so many sweets and drank so much coffee the first day of my visit that, well, let’s just say – my tummy needed a bit of a break the following day. It’s all better now! Whoo Hoo!!!

I’m a lard lover. Yes I am!

Best coffee in Manhattan!
